Comment on Navigating Rights: Access to Services for Asylum Seekers and Refugees by Patricia https://glocalroots.org/en/navigating-rights-access-to-services-for-asylum-seekers-and-refugees/#comment-3519 Tue, 15 Jul 2025 00:00:24 +0000 https://glocalroots.org/?p=17869#comment-3519 Reading this brought back so many thoughts from my own research. The conditions described here—overcrowding, neglect, lack of access to basic needs—are hauntingly similar to what I uncovered while writing Asylum Scandals, which focuses on Minnesota’s state hospitals between 1867 and 1915. The systems may be different, but the pattern is painfully familiar: when people are institutionalized and voiceless, abuse and neglect often follow. That history reminds us why today’s advocacy is so crucial. We have to keep asking: Who is watching the institutions now?

Comment on Childcare: It Takes a Village by Linda Leblanc https://glocalroots.org/en/glocal-insights-childcare/#comment-649 Wed, 06 Dec 2023 17:20:19 +0000 https://glocalroots.org/?p=12236#comment-649 This is an incredible organization. If everyone who reads this article just donates whatever they can afford the impact would be incredible. Also the volunteers are what makes this center such a special place and gives the children love and attention. A look into what a great place the world can be if just given a chance.
